Tibet is located in Mid Western part of China. The average altitude is above 3000 meters and the highest mountain in the world, Everest is found partially in Tibet. Tibet borders to India, Pakistan Bhutan and Nepal. It has attracted millions of tourists from all over the world with its particular geography, history, Tibetan culture, and sheer breath taking beauty.

Driving a motorcycle in Tibet is the dream of many motorcycle riders. Here at CJ Sidecar, we can help you live that dream. Imagine riding a vintage Chinese sidecar motorcycle across the vast Tibet plateau, the sheer vastness and awesome scenery now encompassing you as you ride and experience Tibet in a way that only a motorcycle can afford you. For Riders living in China and have already there Bike, they can bring their own, or we can provide one for you, we have a fleet of perfectly restored Chang Jiang 750s just awaiting you to hop on and ride. The Chang Jiang 750 is similar to the venerable BMW R71 and is a truly unique motorcycle which offers a truly special trip. Our bikes are all equipped with a factory assembled sidecar. These are integral parts of the motorcycle and not a flimsy accessory. They are Chinese Army bikes and can handle the adventure which lies ahead.

Our experienced staff has hand selected the best and safest route with the most beautiful scenery. First, we’ll send the bikes to Golmud in Qinghai, a rich city made prosperous and famous for its large oil reserves. The bikes will be shipped from our Beijing factory or Shanghai Showroom, and the travelers go there by air.


1. Day - Arrival in Golmud

Pick up from the Airport, - Transfer to Hotel

Briefing for the Trip and get along with the Sidecarbikes riding trough Golmud.


2. Day – The Kunlun Pass, 250 km

After a good Breakfast, we start from Golmud driving on our sidecars heading south to Qumar Heyan. The Landscape is vast and barren, exactly right to melt you together with your Iron Horse. The first Challenge is waiting….The Kunlun Pass 4849 mtr.


3. Day – Tangula Mountain, 290 km

Kunlun Mountains behind, we heading further south to the Tanggula Mountain. Today you proof you are a real Biker and enjoy a Landscape with outstanding views sourrounded by pekas above 7.000 mtr. The literally true Highlight is the Tangula Pass with a stunning 5180 mtr. Near heaven. Our Bikes go steadily and you will have enough Air to enjoy.


4. Day – Nagqu, 250 km

Another day on the Tibetan Plateau with true riding and riding, meditation on your Sidecarbike in this really spiritual environment.


5. Day - Nam–tso Lake, 200 km

This turquoise blue must see Namtso Lake sorounded by Peaks more than 7000 mtr. high, gives us the balance between earth and water. If the conditions allow we pitch tents and have some Bikers Talk around the campfire.


6. Day - Arriving in Lhasa, 190 km

A Day to write your own history, we arrive Lhasa and celebrate.


7. Day - Lhasa

Today is a bikeless day which gives you some time to enjoy the magnificent City with their friendly inhabitants. We rest our bodies and machines for a Day, the 7. Day.


8. Day - Tsetang, 190 km

We leave Lhasa to the southwest and driving to Tsetang to enjoy the Yarlung Valley next Day.


9. Day - Yarlung Valley, 100 km

with the Samye Monestary 30 km west of Tsetang and Yambulang, Tibets oldest Fortress, we enjoy the Tibetan culture and have a sightseeing day.

10. Day – Yamdro Lake, 120 km

Water and Mountains is our Topic for today, we are heading to Yamdro Lake via the Khamba – La Pass (4.900 mtr.) and riding further to Gyantse.


11. Day – Sakya, 270 km

Kumbum Themple one of Tibest most magnificent Buildings will inspire us on the way to Sakya, via Shigatse


12. Day – Rongbuk, 100 km

Another Highlight is ahead of us, the Rongphu Monestary (World highest), with a view to Mr. Everest.


13. Day – Mt. Everest Base Camp, 100 km

From Rongbuk to the Mt. Everest Base Camp and back to Sakya is the Program of today, speaking for itself.


14. Day – Sakya to Lhasa, 280 km

Back in Lhasa, we praise the Goods and Elements and thank them for this wonderful Trip.


15. Day Lhasa

Time is plenty to stroll around Lhasa and visit the Potala. Flights back to the normal World are available, or just stay with us a bit longer in Lhasa and ride the Bikes to Chengdu…
The whole trip takes about 15 days, and 2400kms. It will be such a good feeling to drive sidecars during the whole trip. The sky seems just 20-30 meters above your head, you can also see the white snow on the top of the mountains along the route, Tibetan antelope running on the road. The areas we will visit are so remote and vast you don’t even need brakes we will be the only ones for hundreds of kilometers. When you are tired and would like to take a rest, we can set up our tents and spend the night around a fire. Just like the trip of your dreams!!!

We will accommodate you at 3 to 4 star hotels during the whole Tibet trip, and you can enjoy the delicious Chinese and western food there. Meanwhile, we have professional Tibet tour guide, GPS road navigation, and our mechanic will accompany us all along the trip to make sure the motorcycles running well, we have a tour guide who is a trained emergency health care provider for your safety.

Since Tibet is a high plateau area, we want to ensure you can acclimatize to the altitude as best as possible, so if you wish you may arrive a day earlier at Golmud. In case of altidude sickness we have also some oxygen containers, which haven’t been used yet.

Due to Tibet being an autonomous region in China, Foreigners must get a permit before entering this area, we will help you with the Tibet tour visa, if you come from other countries, we will arrange temporary Chinese drive license for you.

Tour expenditure:

If you come from a foreign country and do not have a motorcycle in China and need to rent a motorcycle from us, we can provide all the items needed.

The whole trip cost (including Tibet tour visa, Chinese temporary drive license, motorcycle, gas, road tax, hotel food and beverage) is 4,688 USD.

If you have your own motorcycle in China, the package is 3,688 USD.
