This is Gerald's 1997
Chang Hong 6V M1 however the frame was made in
the sixties. The main seat rubber is from an M72 while
the passenger seat is one of the phoenix seats seen
elsewhere on this site. |
 |
This is Gerald's main ride and
transportation tool. It gets around 100 km put on it
every day. |
 |
This says it all. |
 |
It has an M72 sidecar frame and front
fender. M72 parts were frequently used on CJs due to the
huge inventory of M72 parts kept on hand in China prior
to the introduction of the CJ in 1957. |
 |
The gas tank is a rare vintage model with
knee pads and offset fuel filler. |
 |
The engine was built in 1968. It has the
dipstick in the bottom. The cylinders are from the early
1970s but the pistons and rings are the improved version
with short the short skirts and OHV rings. These were
made in early 1990s. |
 |
That's a PLA air filter housing. It's a bit
smaller than the typical unit. All the wiring is vintage
style with fabric insulation. Gerald has more vintage
modifications planned in the future. |
 |
The sidecar taillight is the early type
found on Chang Jiangs. (You'll have to enlarge the image
to see it.) That's also a vintage CJ reflector. |
 |
Another nifty Chinese horn. Look at that
handsome green tag. Are all Chinese horns this cool? |
 |
It also features a genuine CJ frame-mounted
toolbox. |
 |
The headlight is early 1970s and has small
holes on each side instead of the current type with
larger holes for turn signals. |
