Here's a spectacular solo SV from LRM.
This is one beautiful bike, done exactly the way I like
them! |

This military themed M1M has a machine gun

"This is a vintage CJ front brake cable
adjusting nut made of brass. They were used on early CJs,
M72s & vintage BMWs such as the WWII R75. They are
now available at LRM. If interested, get
in touch with me." |

"Bob Ditzler's M1M
that was built by LRM. He says: I
live about amile from Lake Ontario in Newfane, NY.
Received the bike in Oct. last year. Has 1100 miles on it
now. Great bike with no problems. I am happy with the
performance, finish, has just as good chrome as my H-D.
Thanks!" |

"Lots of CJ owners have been asking us
for the old style CJ petcock with aluminum bowl instead
of the plastic bowl. And finally LRM is
now able to offer these. For anyone with a female
threaded petcock gas tank, you can use these quality
items that do not leak and offer a better gas flow than
the newer CJ petcocks. Also, they cost much less than the
Honda petcock and deliver the gas flow. I have tested
both petcocks. If anyone is interested they can get in
touch with me." |

"Here are the tools used to remove and
install the clutch, flywheel and the rear flange. LRM
just got ten more sets and they are available for anyone
interested. They can get in touch with me at gardebledg@hotmail.com." |

"Here are early CJ/M72/BMW R71 gearbox
foot-shifter adjusting screws. These are now available
from LRM. Anyone interested can get in

 |
"Here are 50 vintage CJ ignition
switches. They are called Si Yi Zi in Chinese.
These 50 are not for sale. (They have already a new
owner.)" |
 |
"But Marcus of LRM
USA at laotoulrm@yahoo.com. He has over 40 of these vintage
switches (already in the US) available for North American
bike owners. And LRM still has more in stock." |
| January 31, 2007 |
|
 |
"Here are pictures of a rear view
mirror that was used on CJ and Dong Hai motorcycles. They
were used during the 70s and 80s. They were made in
Shanghai and were called the SK633 rear view mirror. The
ones shown here were made in May 1974." |

"Here is a scan of a 1960 CJ manual.
Some inside pictures seem to come out of the R71 manual.
This manual is a very early one, at the time CJs were
still using Russian components such as ignition coil,
generator, battery, regulator, distributor. All these
components in this manual come with the Russian
name." |
 |
Let's take a peek inside this very rare
piece of CJ literature! |
 |
"Here are several more scans from the
1960 CJ manual. According to some of the writing inside
the manual, it used to belong to a company of
communication specialists. That unit was based in Ji Nan
city, capital of the Shan Dong province, at the 7220
military unit." |
 |
"If you look at the drawing of the
front fork you can notice that it's a fork for a low
mounted fender. Also, the pictures of the removing of the
front wheel are the same ones that were used in the R71
manual." |

Gerald's winding up the 2006 hunting season
with these excellent scores. Here's a bunch of vintage
rear fender reflectors. |

still wrapped in protective wax paper.. |

An LRM bike with a WWII

This is one of the heads LRM
will use on the 6V OHV currently being restored. |
 |
They're from the eighties and feature a
brass jacket for the spark plug (as on the early SV
heads) and brass valve guides. |
| November 9, 2004 |
|
 |
These are PLA issue cylinder heads with brass inserts
for the spark plugs. No more stripped threads or
compression leaks. LRM will mainly use
them on restoration projects but they will also be made
available to other customers. |
 |
They were manufactured in the seventies and
packed with slips containing words of wisdom from
Chairman Mao. Many of them are still wrapped in wax
paper. |

Here's an LRM Super ready
to be shipped. |
 |
What a great looking machine. |
 |
It fits perfectly in the back of the truck,
too. |
 |
Yep. |
 |
So, you're probably wondering what's so
special, right? |
 |
Well, Gerald had to deliver it
hereAEMCO's hangar in Beijing. |
 |
They do maintenance on Boeing 747s
hereup to four at a time. |
 |
The Super's new owner is a pilot... |
 |
...and the Super will be transported to its
new home by air. |
 |
There's Gerald, looking pretty happy as
usual. The bike is going to Thailand, by the way.. |
 |
Here the bike is being offloaded with a
forklift. |
 |
From here it'll go on the plane. |
 |
Is this a sweet bike or what? |
| October 14, 2004 |
|
 |
Need a fourth upgrade? |
 |
LRM has plenty of gear sets. |
 |
Vintage tire pumps that will be used with
future restorations. |
 |
This LRM PLA bike now resides in California. |
 |
The leather saddle bags are really sharp. |
 |
They look right at home on this bike. |

Here's Clay Jones aboard
Lao Tou's ex-PLA solo. |

This M1M is one of the coolest Changs I've
ever seen. |

information on this gorgeous leather saddle. |

|
 |
Look at the leather saddle bags on this
Super. |
 |
Pretty nice, eh? They're available in the US
from LRM. |
 |
You can see that this is a high-quality bag.
Get in touch with Gerald if you'd like to order a set. |
 |
Gerald demonstrates feats of strength... |
 |
...much to the amusement of the bystanders. |
| October 1, 2004 |
|
 |
This looks interesting. Let's see what's
inside. |
 |
Looks like a pair of pistons. |
 |
Yep, they're three-ring pistons manufactured
in 1968 by Xi An PLA Factory 512. |
 |
You can see 512 chang marked
inside. In this case chang means factory. |
 |
Once the protective wax covering is removed
they look really nice. |
| September 15, 2004 |
|
 |
Oh yeah! LRM just acquired
50 Huangshan speedometers, all new in their
original packaging from 1980 and 1984. |
 |
These are the best speedos ever made for the
CJmuch better than the ones from the Nanchang
Dian Zi Ji Xie Chang. The Chinese characters on the
face are really cool. |
 |
Here's the label from the box. I have one of
these on my bike and it is indeed a good speedo. The
first two (non-HS) speedos didn't last but a few hundred
km! |

|
 |
This LRM M1 Super is
heading for its new owner in Panama. |
 |
The bike features high-speed final drive,
German and Japanese bearings in the engine and wheels,
tapered Japanese steering roller bearings and a lowered
fender. |
 |
Coffee can & bullet blinkers. |
 |
The front fender does look good. |
 |
In fact the whole bike does. |
 |
Great looking machine! |

 |
Before: A 1993 PLA-issue M1M with a Lanxiang
engine... |
 |
...and after. |
 |
The customer has a pretty big smile on his
face. Nice! |
| June 7, 2004 |
|
 |
This is a 1987 PLA M1before... |
 |
...and after (well, almost.) |
 |
It's seen here in the final stages of
restoration. |
 |
Close-up of the engine. Flatties look sooo
cooool. |
 |
Looks like it's all done in this shot. |
 |
Port side... |
 |
...port quarter... |
 |
...starboard bow. |
 |
|
 |
I'd say it turned out pretty good. |
| |
|
 |
This is a really special CJ. |
 |
It's a 1966! |
 |
Notice anything different about the sidecar?
Take a look at the framework around the wheel. That's an
M72 characteristic. They were building Changs like this
long after the Russians had stopped. |
 |
Looks good doesn't it? |
 |
Gotta have that PLA reflector. These old
style taillights are still being used todaybut only
on the sidecars. |
 |
This is how they ran the
wiringexternally. That wire has fabric insulation,
by the way. |
 |
Look at that tiny vintage sidecar taillight. |
 |
Can't forget the frame-mounted toolbox... |
 |
...or the duckboards. |
 |
See the wiring? M72s had it on the left side
of the fender. Changs had it on either side. |
