Lao Tou in Colorado & Beijing

Recent Beijing pictures. All I can say is... WOW!

A random selection of images, courtesy of Lao Tou and Art by Vivianne. (There are many more pictures on Vivianne's web site.)
Yes, that is indeed Gerald with Alpha. But do you recognize the outlaw riding the solo? Check out the old parts, too.

From Lao Tou, this shot of Alpha & Gerald Gardebled from LRM. This image was made in the old part of Beijing. What looks like an alleyway is actually a full sized street.

A couple more shots from Beijing. Here's Alpha...
...and here we see a Xiangjiang 750 12V SV machine. It has an interesting emblem on the gas tank.

Lao Tou spotted a black CJ in Beijing sporting a Rolling Stones logo on the sidecar fender. There's just no escaping those guys.

LT shot these two images during his trip to Beijing. There was very little traffic this day, aside from the rider on his flathead CJ750.

Lao was also on hand for this big event in Beijing. On Sunday, May 15, The Great 2005 Peking to Paris Expedition left Beijing for Paris. (To learn more about this event click here. To see more images, click here.)

I won't even try to identify the antique vehicles except to say they are indeed old. Gerald and Alpha were there providing a rolling platform for a video camera as the procession made its way through the avenues of Beijing. It looks as though the locals went all out with the hospitality. Look at the women wearing traditional costumes.

Imagine what it might be like driving a 90-year-old automobile that distance—what an adventure (just like the upcoming Beijing to Paris CJ750 ride except that event isn't restricted to millionaires!)

Anyway, it would appear that Lao Tou is having quite an interesting time in PRC, something that most of us can just daydream about doing ourselves.

More Beijing images. This is Gerald washing down his bike.
Consultation with local mechanics.
In case you're curious about water-cooled OHV CJ engines...
Looks like these guys are preparing the bike for some maintenance.

More pictures from Lao Tou. On the top we see Luke's son posing with F4. Following that are a couple shots of good old Clay "CJ" Jones in Beijing.

Some guys you might recognize. The big guy is, of course, Gerald. The other fellow is Dariusz (D-Man) Wiecha who's visiting China.

The bottom picture shows a few old-school Changs, one of which has one of those interesting John Deere tractor wheels on the sidecar.
