CJ number tags

This baby was sent by Frans de Wit and, at just about a foot long, it's the biggest tag I've seen so far. "South China Aircraft Power Machinery Ltd., Zhu Zhou Motorbike Factory"

This tag is also from Frans de Wit. Jim Middler provided the translation: GZL-1 type rectifier [or commutator] No. 93 5, Chang Hong Machinery Factory manufactured. The term for rectifier and commutator are the same. Even though they do completely different things, they both "arrange the flow" of the current for a more or less literal translation of the words.
Frame
This frame tag came from Dan Mullins' old bike. It says State Owned Gan [Jiangxi province] Chang Jiang Machinery Factory.
Unstamped frame tags from Nanchang Aircraft Manufacturing Company or CNAMC. These are essential if you're doing a high quality, authentic and correct restoration on a CJ.
Here's a frame tag similar to one posted elsewhere on this page. It's from the Hunan Province—Zhuzhao City Motorcycle Maufacturing Factory.
And here is another one. Although very similar to the tag above, this one is marked Ministry of Aviation Industry—South Engine Machinery Factory.
Included in another LRM parts order were these two frame tags. They're from the same factory but the one on the left says State Owned Gan [Jiangxi province] Chang Jiang Machinery Factory while the other one says Jiangxi [province] Chang Jiang Machinery Factory.
These two tags were also in the parts order. The red text on both says Nanchang CJ Machinery Manufacturing Company. The tag on the left is also marked Hongyang, or Big Sun. The one on the right is marked Shihu, or Lion-Tiger.
This is the frame tag on Peter Gray's M1. His bike is badged as a Yang Zi Jiang 750. It was built by State Owned Factory 4062.
This tag is from a 1967 frame built by Jiangxi [province] Chang Jiang Machinery Factory, one of the former names of the original factory. (LRM)
Although they're from the same factory, the one on the left says Jiangxi [province] Chang Jiang Machinery Factory. The other one says State Owned Gan [Jiangxi province] Chang Jiang Machinery Factory. It's the older of the two. (LRM)
On the left, one from State Owned Hongdu Machinery Factory and on the right, Nanchang Aircraft Manufacturing Company or CNAMC. (LRM)
Shao Yiqi at CJS sent me these two CNAMC frame tags. The one on the left is from a 1992 CJ and the one on the right is from a 1990. That green overspray suggests they may have been on PLA bikes.
Another CNAMC frame tag. The enlarged image shows the whole thing. (CJS)
Another frame tag! This one is from the Nanchang Shihong Motorcycle Factory where they built "plastic" Changs of marginal quality. (LRM)
Frame tag from a 1985 bike built by Nanchang Hongdu Motorcycle Factory, a private factory that didn't survive very long. (LRM)
A similar frame tag, also from 1985. This one is from the State Owned Hongdu Machinery Factory. (LRM)
This is a Chang Hong frame tag from the Nanchang CJ Machinery Building Company, manufacturers of the Shihu model CJ750. The enlarged image shows the whole thing. (LRM)
This is a Shihu tag from the Nanchang CJ Machinery Manufacturing Company. (LRM)
This is a frame tag from 1966. At that time the factory was called Gan Jiang Ji Qi Chang. Gan is another name for Jiangxi Province. Jiang means river. Ji Qi Chang means machinery factory. (LRM)
CJs are also sometimes called Xiangjiangs. This XJ frame tag displays a stylized motorcycle comprised of Chinese characters. This logo appeared in a swoosh emblem on the fuel tank of an eBay Chang. (LRM)
If you like frame tags, you'll love this. Gerald sells unstamped State Owned Hongdu Machinery Factory tags for only $7, and the price includes shipping. (See Gerald's ad page.) The enlarged image shows the entire tag. (LRM)

Engine
This could very well be the rarest CJ engine tag of all. It's from a 6V OHV casing. It says CJ-750E, 30 HP, Xiang Jiang Ji Qi Chang. (LRM)
A nice little surprise included with the latest LRM parts delivery! This CJ750D tag is from the South Engine Machinery Factory in Zhuzhou, Hunan Province. I don't know what the D2P78FM designation indicates.
My extensive collection of CJ engine tags. Okay, so maybe it's not so extensive, but perhaps one day. They're all from LRM and CJS.
Look at this Lanxiang engine tag. They were the main producer of PLA engines in the 1990s. The tag reads Ministry of Aviation and Space Technology, Main Changzhou Lanxiang Machine Factory. (LRM)
This tag is pretty rare nowadays. It's from the Lanxiang factory, formerly called Guo Ying Le He Ji Xie Chang. (LRM)
This tag is from a 6V M1 crankcase which was made for a CJ650 engine. Has anyone ever seen a 650cc CJ engine? They were made by the South Engine Machinery Factory in Zhuzhou, Hunan Province. (LRM)
A tag on a 12V M1M engine. The factory is State Owned CJ Engine Machinery Factory, the second name this factory used. It was located in Hunan Province. (LRM)
This one's from a CJ750D. It's from the South Engine Machinery Factory in Zhuzhou, Hunan Province. It also says Ministry of Aviation and Space Technology Industry. (LRM)
This tag is brand new—never been mounted on an engine! It's also from the South Engine Machinery Factory in Zhuzhou, Hunan Province. See the engine page for more tags.
In this image you'll see four engine tags which give the power output rating (in kilowatts) of the CJ750Fla motor. They all say South Engine Machinery Factory in Zhuzhou, Hunan Province and Ministry of Aviation and Space Technology Industry. (CJS)
Another version of the Fla engine tag. (BSS)
This tag is marked CJ750D, Ministry of Aviation Industry, South Engine Machinery Factory. (CJS)
This engine tag is dated June, 1996. It's from CNAMC, the China Nanchang Aircraft Manufacturing Company. (CJS)
This tag is very recent, 2003 to be exact. It's from the State Owned CJ Engine Factory in Hunan Province. (BSS)
Here's another tag from the State Owned CJ Engine Factory. This is from a water-cooled M1S engine. (LRM)
Engine model CD2P78FMVC tag from the State Owned CJ Engine Factory.

Gearbox
This tag was found on gearboxes equipped with reverse. It says: Warning. Reverse only after the bike is stopped. Go forward after disengaging the reverse. (LRM)
A quotation from Chairman Mao on a tag mounted on the gearbox! It is the People, and only the People, who can initiate the creation of world history. (LRM)

Final drive
This tag is from the State Owned Southern Automotive Machinery Company. This being a more modern tag, it's attached using aluminum rivets. (LRM)
This one says State Owned Xiang Jiang Machinery Factory. It's an older tag and is mounted with brass rivets. (LRM)
Gerald knows how much I like this stuff and usually includes a few surprises in my parts orders like this final drive tag. It says Ministry of Aviation and Space Technology, Main Changzhou Lanxiang Machine Factory.
This one is says Ministry of Aviation and Space Technology Industry, South Engine Machinery Factory.
Gerald tossed these final drive tags in with my latest LRM parts order. They're from the State Owned South Engine Machinery Factory. Every CJ should have a nice final drive tag!
This tag is from a final drive built by the State Owned CJ Engine Machinery Factory. (LRM)
Another final drive tag. This one is from Ministry of Aviation and Space Technology Industry, South Engine Machinery Factory. (LRM)
Tag from State Owned Factory No. 51. Below it is a tag from a 6V M1 engine from State Owned Factory No. 52. Both are from the same bike, a 1985 model. (Click here to see another one of these engine tags.) (LRM)
Another final drive tag from State Owned Machinery Factory No. 51. The tag reads (appropriately enough) CJ750 final drive. (LRM)
Here are three tags from final drives, all marked with model 72 05 900. The top two say State Owned South Engine Machinery Factory and the bottom one says Ministry of Aviation and Space Technology Industry, South Engine Machinery Factory. My scanner is on the blink and the colors you see here are off quite a bit. The tags are actually a medium-light blue. (LRM)
A final drive tag! This is an early one from the State Owned Nanfang Dongli Machinery Factory. (LRM)
And here's a tag on the final drive of a late model M1M.

From LRM, this tag (which I'm guessing was mounted on the sidecar) says Hunan Province—Zhuzhao City Motorcycle Maufacturing Factory.
It's a Jiangxi Nanchang Assorted Rubber Items Factory seat tag! If you want one, check out Gerald's ad page.
This is the tag from my Shengjia (Fine Sound) DL38-6 horn. It says bowl shaped electrical horn.
This tag is from a Yingge (Parrot) brand DL38-6 horn manufactured by the Hafei Postal Service Machinery Factory.

A tag from a Jiangxi speedometer. (LRM)
Tag from a CJ windscreen. (The enlarged image shows the whole thing.) It says Made by the Hongdu Machinery Factory. (Thanks Clay & Gerald for the translation.)
I found an example of a bike with a Hongdu windscreen tag like the one described above. This picture is from a Czech web site where it's erroneously described as a Donghai Chang Jiang. At any rate, it's not the prettiest bike.
Here's another one of these tags on a windshield at Mr. Shen's 750 Shop in Nanchang.
