Tank Badges Unlimited

Chang Jiangs were never fitted with decent tank badges—just stickers or decals. (You can see a few examples of them here.) Looking at vintage M72s with their handsome cast IMZ badges (left) reminds me of how our bikes seem incomplete without nice tank emblems. A lot of guys remedy this by applying BMW badges.

I'm now thinking about having some cast CJ badges manufactured and have made around 50 different designs, most of which are crap including many of those appearing here. I've tried to keep them as simple as possible. They incorporate the colors of the Chinese flag and the characters for Chang Jiang. The best candidate so far is the one at the top of the column on the left. (Well, it's the one I like best, anyway.)

Ideally, these would be cast with a raised design and ring. They'd be drilled for screws and they probably won't be convex although that could be a possibility. (There really isn't much need on a CJ tank.)

I'll have extras made if anyone else is interested. (The bigger the order, the cheaper the item, obviously.) If not, I'll just have enough made for my own personal use. I realize these designs won't appeal to most people. The lack of a BMW propeller takes care of half of you right off the bat!

Somebody brought to my attention that the idea I like the most also resembles the rising sun on the flag of Japan—perhaps just a little bit too much. So I messed around with it a little bit, but now the badge is starting to look a bit busy. I'll be playing with this a lot more.
Propellers? CJs were built by the China Nanchang Aircraft Manufacturing Company...

Why not an airplane? It's a CJ6, about as appropriate as you can get. I will soon add Chinese characters for Nanchang Aircraft Manufacturing Company.

And here they are, some CJ6 badges with Chinese text for Nanchang Aircraft Manufacturing Company. Whattaya think?

A few more ideas. The CJ6 prop has a slightly wider ring than some of the other versions.
